Online Screen Recorder
Record your screen, window or browser tab — with optional mic voice-over — right from your browser. Free, no install, no watermark.
About the Online Screen Recorder
Record your screen directly from the browser — no software to install, no account, no watermark and no time limit. Pick a full screen, a single window or one browser tab, optionally add your microphone for a voice-over, and download the finished recording as a WebM video file.
The recording is captured and encoded entirely on your device using your browser's built-in MediaRecorder. Nothing is streamed or uploaded anywhere, which makes this safe for recording internal dashboards, private documents and client work — the video exists only on your computer until you decide to share it.
It is ideal for quick tutorials, bug reports, demo videos and walkthroughs. A live indicator shows the elapsed time while recording, and stopping — either with the button or by ending the share from your browser's own bar — instantly produces a preview player and a download button.
How to Use the Online Screen Recorder
- 1Tick "Record my microphone" if you want a voice-over.

- 3Do your thing — the elapsed time counts up while recording.
- 4Click Stop Recording (or end sharing from the browser bar) and preview the video.
- 5Download the recording as a .webm file.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I record my screen without downloading software?
Open this page in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a desktop, click Start Recording and pick what to capture. The browser's built-in screen-capture API does the recording — no extension, no installer, no sign-up. When you stop, the video is ready to preview and download immediately.
Can I record my voice along with the screen?
Yes. Tick the "Record my microphone" checkbox before starting, and allow microphone access when the browser asks. Your narration is mixed into the same video file. If you skip the checkbox, the recording is silent video only — useful when you plan to add commentary later.
Is the recording uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is captured and encoded by your own browser and held in memory on your device. Nothing touches a server at any point, so recordings of private dashboards, emails or client projects stay completely under your control until you choose to share the downloaded file.
What format is the video, and will it play everywhere?
Recordings are saved as WebM (VP9 or VP8 video), which plays in every modern browser, VLC, YouTube and most editing software. If a specific app demands MP4, run the file through any free converter — or upload the WebM directly to YouTube or Google Drive, which accept it natively.
Why doesn't screen recording work on my phone?
Mobile browsers do not expose the screen-capture API to websites, so browser-based recording is desktop-only. On a phone, use the built-in recorder instead: Control Center on iPhone or the Quick Settings screen-recorder tile on Android. This tool works on Chrome, Edge and Firefox for desktop.
