Image Splitter

Split an image into an equal grid of tiles — up to 10×10 rows and columns. Numbered previews and a one-click ZIP download. Free, in-browser.

About the Image Splitter

This image splitter cuts any picture into a perfectly even grid — choose anywhere from 1 to 10 rows and 1 to 10 columns and get up to 100 equal tiles. Each tile is previewed with its number (left to right, top to bottom) and exported as a lossless PNG, individually or all together in one ZIP.

It's useful far beyond social media: create puzzle pieces, slice a large map or diagram into printable sheets, prepare sprite tiles, split a banner across multiple screens, or divide artwork for a photo wall. For the specific Instagram 3-column look with square tiles, our dedicated Instagram Grid Splitter handles the posting order for you.

Splitting happens entirely in your browser — the image is never uploaded, and tiles keep the original resolution of each region with no recompression artifacts.

How to Use the Image Splitter

  1. 1Upload the image you want to split.
  2. 2Set the number of rows and columns (1–10 each).
  3. 3Click Split and preview the numbered tiles.
  4. 4Save individual tiles or download the whole grid as a ZIP.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I split an image into equal parts online?

Upload the image, enter how many rows and columns you want, and click Split. The tool divides the image into identical rectangles and lets you download them individually or as a ZIP — free and without uploading anything.

How are the tiles numbered?

Tiles are numbered 1, 2, 3… going left to right, then top to bottom — the same order you read text. The ZIP contains files named tile-1.png through the last tile.

Do the tiles lose quality?

No. Each tile is cut from the original pixels and saved as lossless PNG, so quality is identical to the source image.

What happens if my image doesn't divide evenly?

Tile sizes are rounded down to whole pixels, so a few edge pixels on the right and bottom may be trimmed. For a 3000 × 2000 image split 3 × 3, each tile is exactly 1000 × 666 px.

Can I use this for an Instagram grid?

You can, but our Instagram Grid Splitter is built for that: it locks the grid to 3 columns, makes every tile square, and numbers the files in the correct reverse posting order.
