Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate are the times?
The tool uses a well-established solar-position algorithm that is accurate to about a minute for most locations. Local terrain, altitude and atmospheric refraction can cause small differences.
What is civil, nautical and astronomical twilight?
They mark how far the sun is below the horizon: civil twilight (up to 6°) still has usable light, nautical (up to 12°) is darker, and astronomical (up to 18°) is nearly full night.
Can it use my current location?
Yes. With your permission it can read your device's location to fill in the coordinates automatically, or you can type any latitude and longitude manually.
Is my location uploaded?
No. The calculation runs in your browser, so your coordinates are never sent to a server.
