This test score calculator turns 'I got 42 out of 50' into a percentage and letter grade instantly. The score is (correct ÷ total) × 100 — so 42/50 is 84%, a B on the widely used scale where A is 90% and above, B is 80-89%, C is 70-79%, D is 60-69% and below 60% is an F.
The second section answers the question students actually ask before and during an exam: how many questions can I still get wrong and keep my target grade? Pick a target, and the calculator shows the maximum number of wrong answers allowed and the minimum correct answers needed. On a 50-question test, an A (90%) allows at most 5 wrong; a B (80%) allows 10. If you have already entered your correct count, it also shows how many more you can afford to miss.

How do I calculate my test score percentage?
Divide correct answers by total questions and multiply by 100. Getting 42 right out of 50 gives 42 ÷ 50 × 100 = 84%. The same formula works whether the test has 10 questions or 200.
How many questions can I miss and still get an A on a 50-question test?
With A set at 90%, you need 45 correct out of 50, so you can miss at most 5. On a 100-question test you can miss 10; on a 20-question quiz only 2. The calculator computes this for any test length and any target grade.
What grade is 84 percent?
On the common 90/80/70/60 scale, 84% is a B (B range is 80-89%). Some schools subdivide further — 84% would be a mid B — and some countries use entirely different bands, so check your institution's official scale.
Do skipped questions count against my score?
On most tests, yes — a blank scores the same zero as a wrong answer, and this calculator treats everything that isn't correct as wrong. The exception is negative marking (used in exams like MDCAT or SAT's old format), where wrong answers cost extra; this simple percentage model doesn't apply penalties.
