Audio Pitch Changer

Shift audio pitch up or down by semitones while keeping the same length, in your browser. Free, private, no signup or upload.

About the Audio Pitch Changer

This free audio pitch changer raises or lowers the pitch of a track by a number of semitones without changing its length. Use it to transpose a backing track to a comfortable key, match instruments, create a higher or deeper voice effect, or nudge a sample into tune.

The whole process runs in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly, so your audio is never uploaded. The engine (around 30 MB) downloads from a CDN on first use and is cached, so your first run is the slow one. The tool resamples internally and then time-stretches back to the original duration so only the pitch changes.

An honest caveat: large shifts (near the ±12 semitone limits, a full octave) can introduce audible artifacts, because pitch shifting is an approximation rather than a true re-recording. Small shifts of a few semitones sound the cleanest. Files up to 100 MB are supported.

How to Use the Audio Pitch Changer

  1. 1Choose an audio file, up to 100 MB.
  2. 2Set the pitch shift in semitones — positive is higher, negative is lower (±12 = one octave).
  3. 3Click Change Pitch and wait for the progress bar.
  4. 4Compare the result and download it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. All processing runs in your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device — only the converter engine is downloaded, once.

Why is the first run slow?

The first time you use any converter here, the browser downloads the FFmpeg core (about 30 MB) from a CDN and compiles it. It is then cached for the session, so later runs are much faster.

Does the length stay the same?

Yes. The tool shifts pitch while preserving duration — a 3-minute song stays 3 minutes. Only the perceived pitch moves up or down.

How much can I shift?

Up to 12 semitones (one octave) in either direction. Small shifts of a few semitones sound cleanest; large shifts can add noticeable artifacts because pitch shifting is an approximation.

Can I change speed instead of pitch?

Yes — use our Audio Speed Changer to make audio faster or slower, optionally keeping the original pitch. This tool does the opposite: it changes pitch while keeping the length.
